Tape-In Hair Extensions

Tape Hair Extensions can be described as an exciting and innovative hair extension method that results in a beautiful and natural look avoiding stress and damage to your hair or countless  hours of your time sitting in the hair salon chair. This specific method uses 100% human hair and the use of heat, beads, knots, glue, wefts, braiding or weaving is not required. These hair extensions are easily removed with a simple removal solution and the hair is left with minimal to no damage or breakage. Tape extensions are the most seamless, natural and comfortable extensions on the market. They are affordable and there is no tangling, knotting or matting. At our Salon, our experts in tape-in hair extensions will consult with you on the most appropriate style, color and length for your hair. Prices may vary depending on thickness, volume and length desired and will be assessed during your consultation. Maintaining your extensions is NECESSARY every 6-8 weeks to keep the condition of your  intact and most importantly the condition of your natural hair. Re-applying includes removing, re-taping, cleaning and re-applying the extensions.

Q. Are tape-in hair extensions Real Human Hair?

A. Tape hair extensions are 100% remy human hair which means the hair cuticle is intact and the hair is directed in the same way to prevent the hair from getting tangled and matted.

Q. Do tape hair extensions last forever?

A. Tape hair extensions unfortunately cannot last forever but will last at least 8-10 weeks. That will depend on how fast your hair grows, lifestyle, heat exposure, etc., but the good news is that the hair can be reused up to 3 times.

Q. Are custom colors available?

A. Of course, as there are various colors available that can be mixed together and create many different color combinations.

Q. Straighten, wave or simply blow dry! Can I do all this to my hair extensions?

A. Tape hair extensions are totally fine when subjected to all of the above. However, when exposed to extensive styling heat the condition of the hair will decrease so you might need to order new hair sooner than expected. Caution: Direct heat on the bonds/ tape tabs should be avoided in order to not compromise the longevity of the extensions.

Q. Is it ok to use any type of products in the hair?

A.  Your new hair can be treated just as your normal hair. Sulfate free shampoo are great to prevent the extension hair color from fading. Conditioners are fine for the mid shaft and ends but should be avoided near the bonds. Products containing alcohol and essential oils should be avoided as well near or around the bonds.

Q.  Can I color my roots while the extensions are still in the hair?

Absolutely, however please refer to an experienced hair colorist to ensure the integrity of the bonds while retouching you hair color.

Keratin Hair Treatment FAQ

Q. Does keratin smoothing treatment reduce the natural volume of the hair?

A. No, your hair will retain more of its natural volume after the keratin smoothing treatment. Using a round brush and curling iron will always be an option to create more body and volume.

Q. My hair is highlighted and/or colored, can it still handle the keratin smoothing treatment?

A. Yes, the keratin smoothing treatment is perfect for highlighted and colored hair. It will not only eliminate the frizz but will enhance the color as well, making the hair appear healthier overall.

Q. Will my hair be straight after the keratin smoothing treatment?

A. It always depends on the natural texture of your hair. If the hair is curly, it will eliminate the frizz and define the natural curl. If the texture is wavy, the treatment most likely will result in your hair to dry slightly straighter. If your hair is straight already, the treatment will eliminate the frizz and give your hair a healthier and shiny look. The treatment, at last will reduce the time ruqired to blowdry almost in half.

Q. Who is the keratin smoothing treatment ideal for?

A. Keratin smoothing treatment is ideal for almost everyone and every hair type. It will be as effective on all hair types including: thick, thin, dry, chemically damaged, straight, wavy and curly. This specialty service will make the hair healthier as it smoothes the cuticle and eliminates frizz and creates shine.

Q. How long will the keratin smoothing treatment last?

A. The results will vary depending on the individual’s hair type. and how often they wash their hair. Normal results last for up to 12 weeks but
wave can return sooner although it will still be way easier to blow dry. It is also essential to use the proper support products. This treatment is cumulative so the more treatments you receive, the longer a client can go between treatments.

Q. Is the keratin smoothing treatment compatible with other hair relaxers and perms?

A. The keratin smoothing treatment is absorbed even better on chemically treated and damaged hair. The proteins and nutrients will seal the damaged cuticle and heal the hair.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my hair color when deciding to get the keratin smoothing treatment?

A. It is s ideal to get the hair color done first and then the treatment because of the cuticle is open and ready to fully absorb the keratin treatment. If you do have the keratin smoothing treatment done first and then decide to do color, you will want to wait 2 weeks before having a color service.

Q. What steps can I take to prolong the life of my keratin smoothing treatment?

A. The most important thing you can do is use the appropriate aftercare product line that your salon or stylist offers. The more often you wash your hair, the less time your treatment will last so you may want to try to wash your hair around 3 times per week if possible.

Q. Will swimming in the ocean or pool compromise my keratin smoothing treatment?

A. Swimming in the ocean or pool is fine, but the life of your treatment may be compromised if you swim regularly. A leave in serum or conditioner is a great product to apply before swimming to protect the hair from the elements such as chlorine and salt in the water.

Q. How long do I need to wait to wash my hair after the keratin smoothing treatment?

A. There is no waiting period using the Cadiveu type and a three day waiting period for other types.

Q. Am I still a candidate for the keratin smoothing treatment if I am platinum blonde?

A. Yes. Your stylist has been trained on how to perform a keratin smoothing treatment and has learned to turn the heat of the flat iron down to 380-400 degrees depending on the condition of your hair.

Q. Can the keratin smoothing treatment be administered on hair extensions?

A. Yes. Actually this treatment is a great solution to the common issue of hair extensions becoming excessively dry due to the lack of natural oils from the scalp. Ideally, it is easiest to perform the treatment before the extensions are put in the hair. However, if they are in the hair, it is not a problem. Extreme caution should be used around the bond or cylinder area to.

Q. Is the keratin smoothing treatment permanent and will there be a new growth?

A. No the treatment is not permanent and will it “grow out”. The treatment gradually and evenly washes out so there is no “line of demarcation”. This treatment does not change the inner structure of the hair, but rather creates a protein layer overlay on the cuticle
which protects the hair. As the hair is protected for an extended time, the condition of the hair is improved.

Q. Can the keratin smoothing treatment be performed on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding?

A. Since there have not been any studies or tests on the possible effects, we recommend to air on the side of caution and notperform the service on pregnant clients. Clients should get their doctor’s approval which is up to your discretion

What is Corrective Hair Color / Color Correction

Many of clients may not be familiar with this exact term, so let’s start by defining what corrective hair color or color correction means. Corrective hair color is a color process that must be performed by a professional hair colorist to correct any and all damage caused by a color service gone wrong.

This could mean something as simple as you wanted to be honey blonde and ended up with platinum blonde hair or something as drastic as a chemical being left on your hair too long and now your hair is breaking off in your hair brush. Another reason you may need corrective color service is if you colored your hair at home and you turned your hair black instead of the warm brown shown on the box.

There are many factors as to why a color service goes wrong. For those of you who do it at home, you may not realize that your hair is porous and will absorb more color than the average person. If your bad hair color was a result of a salon visit, you may have been working with someone inexperienced, which can lead to leaving bleach or color on your hair too long.

Perhaps the most serious situation which can occur with an inexperienced hair colorist is that they fail to recognize that your hair is too damaged to color correctly in the first place and it needs deep conditioning and re-hydration prior to being colored or bleached.

All of these reasons and more are why you should always seek a true hair color experts, like those at Teddy Rose Hair Salon.

If you are coming in for a corrective color service at Teddy Rose Hair Salon, there are a few things that are important to be aware of before coming to the salon. When a client comes to us for corrective color services, she has usually had previous color services performed on her hair which have created an unsatisfactory result. If this is the case for you personally, it is important to realize the effect that these previous services may have had on your hair.

Your hair is in a stressed and weakened condition when you walk through our door. Because of the caution necessary to perform services on fragile hair, it could take several visits to achieve the final result. That is why it is called “corrective hair color / Color correction”.

To set the correct expectations, it is important that you pay attention to the recommendations of your stylist and ask any questions that may arise during your initial consultation.

Please keep in mind that the final result may take several visits to achieve, depending on how damaged or weak your hair is upon your first visit for color correction. This is due to the fact that performing all services necessary to correct the color for the desired result may break or further damage your hair if there is not ample time between processes to allow your hair to strengthen.

Skin Care FAQ

I have never received a facial, which one should I get?

It is best to reserve European classic facial. Based on analysis of your skin, this facial is uniquely customized to fit all of your needs. The Classic facial includes cleansing, exfoliation, massage and extractions at the discretion of esthetician.

I have sensitive skin. Will a facial further aggravate my skin?

Yes it could, depending on the type of facial it is. Be sure to tell your esthetician in advance if you know you have sensitive skin so we can use products developed special for sensitive skin.

Does the extraction during a facial involve lancet needles?

No. We do not believe in the use of lancet needles. All extractions are done by the esthetician’s fingers protected with gloves.

How long should I wait to receive my next facial?

For most clients, maintenance facial once per month is recommended to clean and hydrate the skin. However, if a client’s skin has special concerns that need to be addressed, such as pigmentation disorders or infected acne, a treatment twice a month or even weekly might be recommended by their skin care therapist. Consult with your aesthetician on the frequency of facial treatments.

Wig FAQs

Will wearing a wig ruin my natural hair?

No. Wearing a wig will not damage your own hair. Wearing a wig can actually improve your hair by protecting it from the elements.

Can the wig be made bigger or smaller to better fit my head?

Yes. We custom size every wig to fit the client’s head perfectly. All in-salon wig purchases include custom sizing at no additional cost. Wigs look significantly more natural and feel more comfortable when they are hand-tailored to fit the head properly.

Waxing FAQs

Why Waxing?

Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Warm wax is applied to the skin and adheres to the hair. When removed, the hair is pulled from the root.

Does Waxing Hurt?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but you can expect a short, stinging sensation after the strip is pulled. If you are worried about being sensitive, taking an ibuprofen or aspirin about 30 minutes before your appointment should minimize your discomfort (consult with your physician before taking medications). Continuous waxing causes finer and less hair therefore waxing becomes less painful.

Why should I wax vs. shaving, electrolysis, or laser?

If waxing is done consistently, hair grows back slower, finer, and sparser. Shaving cuts the hair off at the skin and the quantity and thickness of the hair stays the same. Shaving can also increase skin sensitivity and create a higher probability for ingrown hairs. Electrolysis and Laser hair removal doesn’t work for everyone and can be unpredictable and cost prohibitive.

How long can I expect my waxing to last?

If you’ve allowed your hair to grow out to the proper length prior to waxing, you can expect to be hair-free for a minimum of 1-2 weeks following your appointment.

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No, waxing actually has the opposite effect. Hair that is removed at the roots grows in finer and softer over time.

Can I be waxed if I’m taking Retin A, Renova, or Accutane?

These medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates so waxing could potentially remove skin as well as hair. Please let your Cerologist™ technician know immediately if you are on any medications. Also be aware that chemical peels, laser, and micro-dermabrasion can also affect skin integrity.
